1. January – जनवरी

According to the English calendar, January is considered the first month of the year, whose number of days is 31, the month of January is celebrated as New Year (Happy New Year) all over the world, in this month the maximum winter is observed in northern India. Famous festivals like Makar Sankranti, Independence Day, Ganesh Chaturthi are celebrated in the month of January. But according to indigenous months in India, it is not the first month of the new year, but the new year starts from mid-March, which is called Chaitra.

2. February – फ़रवरी

The month of February is the second month of the year according to the English month, usually this month has 28 days but in leap year February has 29 days. Festivals like Saraswati Puja, Ganesh Chaturthi, Ekadashi, Shivratri etc. are celebrated in this month.

3. March – मार्च

According to the English calendar, the third month of the year is the month of March. The year begins according to the native months, it is consumed by the month of Chaitra. If we talk about festivals, big festivals like Holi, Shivratri come in this month. Sometimes Shivratri comes in February and sometimes in March. 4. April – अप्रैल

The fourth month of the year is April, in this month famous festivals like Hindi Navvarsharambh (Vasantiya Navratri), Ram Navami, Ambedkar Jayanti, Ganesh Chaturthi are celebrated. Wheat crop ripens in this month and people start harvesting it.

5. May – मई

The fifth month of the year is May, in which the number of days is 31. According to native months, it is also called Vaishakh-Jyestha. In this month there are festivals like Eid, Ganesh Chaturthi. It is very hot in this month, almost wheat harvesting is over. Farmers start preparing the fields for the new crop.

6. June – जून

June is the sixth month of the year according to the English calendar, according to the Hindu calendar and indigenous months it is called Jyestha-Ashadha. Because these 15 days are of Jyestha and 15 days are of Ashadha month. The number of days in this is 30. The month is named after the Roman goddess Juno, who is the wife of the god Jupiter and the equivalent of the Greek goddess Hera. Ganesh Chaturthi, the Ekadashi fast, falls in the month of June.

7. July – जुलाई

July is the seventh month of the year which falls in the original months of Ashadha-Shravan. There are 31 days in July. The month was named by the Roman Senate in honor of Roman General Julius Caesar, it was the month of his birth and festivals like Rath Yatra, Bakrid, Gurupurnima are celebrated in the month of July.

8. August – अगस्त

August is the eighth month of the year, there are 31 days in this month. In this month, the festivals of Nag Panchami, Raksha Bandhan, Independence Day, Sankranti, Shri Krishna Janmashtami are celebrated. According to the Hindu calendar, the name of the native month is Shravan – Bhadrapada. August is 15 days of Shravan – 15 days of Bhadrapada.

9. September – सितम्बर

September is the ninth month according to the English year and the number of days in it is 30. The corn crop is harvested in September. Fasts and festivals like Vishwakarma Puja, Ganesh Chaturthi Vrat, Sharadiya Navratri and Sair are celebrated in this month.

10. October – अक्टूबर

October is the tenth month of the English year. Whereas according to the indigenous Hindu year, it is the eighth month. It comes in Ashwin-Karthik.
